Sustainable Development Goals

Our work aligns with seven of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including No Poverty, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Climate Action and Partnerships for the Goals.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to create a more fair, just, and equitable world. In 2015, all member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This agenda consists of 17 SDGs that provide a shared blueprint for a more peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future. While all of the Sustainable Development Goals are interconnected, we focus on seven goals that are core to our mission of preventing blindness and restoring sight.
Restoring sight and preventing blindness are connected to other international development issues such as education, access to fresh water, equality for women and girls, poverty reduction, climate action and good health and well-being. As an international development organization, Operation Eyesight partners with local governments and hospitals to bring eye health care to remote and underserved communities.

Global Strategy 2024-2028:
Going Beyond the Restoration
of Eyesight

Ending poverty, promoting good health and well-being, providing opportunities for quality education, increasing gender equality and women’s empowerment, providing access to clean water, minimizing our impact on the environment and creating meaningful, lasting partnerships are part of an effort Operation Eyesight is making to collectively achieve these goals.

We invite you to read our Global Strategy 2024 – 2028: Going Beyond the Restoration of Eyesight, which highlights our commitment to expanding our service reach to include more communities and more determinants of health related to eye health.
